Did someone say Sangria?
I was so lucky as a child to spend the majority of summers spent on my second home island of Menorca. The smallest island in the Balearics. What is it with me and small islands? Where sangria, G&T and plenty of rosado seemed to flow in abundance.
I felt it only right to share a little Sangria recipe with you all as summer is approaching, therefore the drinks menu changes. For the brits is Pimms by the pitcher and Sangria the further south you go.
What you will need to make this special style of Sangria with twist:
2 Apples, green or red
1 pint Strawberries
2 tbsp Honey, raw
Oils & Vinegars
5 drops Orange Essential oil
5 drops Grapefruit essential oil
3 drops Lemon or citrus fresh essential oil where to buy the essential oils
2 Oranges (cut into 1-inch round slices)
1 cup Grapefruit juice, fresh-squeezed
1 cup Orange juice, fresh-squeezed
Beer, Wine & Liquor
1/2 cup Brandy or rum
3 bottles Red wine
1 cup seltzer water
1. Mix the wine, honey and brandy in a large pitcher. Stir until honey is dissolved.
2. Add fruit and let refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Ideally, let sit overnight.
3. Just before serving add essential oils and seltzer water.
4. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
What other drinks do you enjoy sipping in the hotter months, with the sand between your toes and the warm sun on your face? I would love to hear your favourite! 🍷
