5 Tips to Lead a Healthier You!
Living a healthy life doesn’t have to be hard work, stressful or expensive. It also doesn’t and most probably won’t happen over night, taking one day at a time and setting yourself realistic goals is the ideal way to make positive changes in your life.
Once they become part of your regular routine you can introduce another habit change each week.
To help you get started here are my top 5 tips on how to lead an overall healthier life.
1. Eat More Vegetables.
Add veggies section to every meal, whether raw or cooked. Start with small quantities if you’re not a veggie fan. The added vitamins and antioxidants you receive from each portion will benefit you in the long term.
2. Drink More Water.
Most of the time we do not drink enough water so aim to consume more than what you think you need. Often we mistake hunger for thirst. I recommend drinking a glass of water before every meal. Get fancy with your water, add lemon, mint, cucumber, or other herbs and fruit to add a little colors, flavor and interest.
3. Move Every Day.
This doesn’t have to be a crazy weight session or spin power hour just move your body every day. As guideline aim for 10,000K steps daily, two weight workouts per week and 3 HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) sessions.
4. Conscious Eating.
Habit, clocks, emotions, rewards, breaks, and social gatherings can prompt us to eat even when we’re not hungry. Try to tune into why you’re actually hungry? What do you need your body to do next- sleep, workout, repair, sustain? All of these things require different foods to perform at their best.
5. Feed Your Soul.
To keep your happiness levels topped up, we need to do things we enjoy. This in turn will let allow us to be healthier in our minds as well our bodies. So join that salsa class, take a friend on an exploration hike, swim the ocean looking for turtles, do what makes you smile.
We are creatures of habit and to change our patterns is a challenge,. It may
be discomforting to start- this is natural, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Give it time and surround yourself with positive people and the support you need. Be the best version of you! ( as you may not know how wonderful you can be?)
